Unemployed? Try Goals. 09/02/2009
Unemployment isn't synonymous with failure, unless you live with your parents, so cheer up. You now have an actual opportunity to change not only your career or job position, but your life. "Yeah?,.. But how?" Is the most common response to my opening statement. How, boils down to two factors: Your Attitude- This is how you choose mentally and emotionally respond to your current, past, and future life situations. Your Goals- The presence of goals in your life says a lot on it's own, but how you plan, execute, and document your goals will say even more. Of course to achieve ultimate success you'll need action. Actions without goals are like a ship lost without a rudder. Determine Your First Goal Today. Every morning, I get out a 3x5 note card and write down 6 goals that I will accomplish that day. I start on number one, and I don't stop until I'm finished with number 1. After number 1 is successfully complete, then I move to number 2. Sometimes I don't make it all the way down to 6, but I find that if I ignore 80% of what I think I'm suppose to do, and only focus on my current goal, I get WAY more done in the same amount of time had I not written my goals down to begin with. A sample daily goal card for an unemployed person might be:
It's hard to ignore distractions and scheduled events. Over and above the noise, you will eventually find "time on your hands" This small goal card will be the direction you need to take action on your goals. If you have 6 goals and you only accomplish 3, then your day was 50% successful. If you accomplish 6 goals every day, then you will not fail at any pursuit. Business Model Change 09/02/2009
